NARRATIVE DESIGN

I wrote an episode for Season 5 of the Grim, Grimmer, Grimmest podcast series called Red Fish, Blue Fish, One Fish, Three Fish. It is inspired by The Djinn and the Fisherman from The Arabian Nights story collection. Adam Gidwitz supported me in ideation, outlining, and editing.

While at Tinkercast, I wrote, produced, and edited 10+ digital podcast, interactive, multimedia, product & K5 learning extensions monthly. These extensions include Kahoots, SeeSaw, and Newsela amongst others.
 

I also pitched the episode idea of toxic positivity for the quokka on How to Be an Earthling, Rapunzel reimagined in RAPunzel on Once Upon a Beat, and the character of "Odie" on Who When Wow Season 2.

 
While most of this content is hidden by NDA or within platform, below are examples of my "gravitas within silliness" style. These are placards for a Tinkercast-themed museum for a team end of year event.

I wrote 4 ‘Play to Learn’ animated interstitials on emotional literacy for a 35 million global pre-k refugee audience. Linked are my independent first drafts of the scripts, before it went out to a writing team for edits.

In my spare time, I enjoy performing at poetry slams. I love the platform for it's ephemeralness, thus my performances are rarely documented...with the exception of my very first slam in 2016, featured below! While I still stand by the content, my performance style (and need of papers!) has thankfully changed.

I was a narrative designer for MathTalk where I developed non-linear narrative arcs and illustrative math alignment of the Wild Numbers across art installation walks. ​After adding in narrative, data showed participants staying for over 5 minutes, compared to the previous average of 30 seconds or less.

 I wrote songs and scripts for 3 episodes of the children's television series Ubongo Kids (7-14 yo audience) and 1 episode of Akili and Me with a reach of 11 million families / month across 40 African countries. See my episodes below.

I also wrote 14 (45% of total) radio broadcast episodes based on once televised content, reaching 24.6 million families 

I wrote the environment justice-themed book, "Jia and Jose's Ocean Rescue," contributing to 78% of participants reading proficiently by 2nd grade. Chapter One's web viewer link here.

I create bespoke poetry for any topic. Past commissions include a limerick for a crab tattoo, a series of haikus for an otter-themed proposal, and a 'processing poem' for a client's fraught relationship with her sister-in-law! Excerpts of select poems with names changed below. The shop is currently on pause.
